With such a bounty of seasonal foods and fantasic local wines in the Willamette Valley, we can’t help but improvise. Whether you call ahead to check our daily specials, or note them when you arrive, Chef Brakeman always has a few meals that he really wants to feature, so we offer them at a price meant to entice.

Weekly Special Nights

Each week, we host a series of special dinners — check the list below and call ahead for tonight’s menu.

• Thursday Stammtisch Bring your own stein and join the “local’s table”, where beer drinking and boisterous conversation are encouraged — from 4-6 p.m.
• Friday Night Fish Fry (first Friday of each month) The Friday Night Fish Fry has a long American history dating back to the early 20th century, when fish fries were instituted as a fund-raising device for Catholic parishes that ministered to many of the German, Polish, Italian, and Irish immigrants (most of whom obeyed the no-meat rule on Friday). We too are offering a Fish Fry on the first Friday of each month. The fish is freshly dipped in house-made beer batter served with our own tartar sauce, German-style coleslaw that is sweet and tangy, and crisp potato pancakes or French Fries. The Friday Night Fish Fry is “Down Home Gemutlichkeit” (low-key contentment). And don’t forget, we have a great selection of German beers on tap.

The Chef’s Table is a meal designed and served by the chef himself. For this special dinner, each person receives a five-course dinner pared with a carefully chosen beverage designed to enhance the dining experience. $85 per person (all inclusive). Call for more information.

Seasonal Festivals

Throughout the coming year, we will be sharing the bounty of our local farms with Seasonal Festivals, each focusing on a seasonal favorite.

• Wurst Fest February Wurst Fest is a sausage festival in the true German style. In 2009, it will be held on February 21 and 22 at the Biergarten. So join us for the “Wurst” time of your life. Learn More.
• Spargelzeit....Spargel What???? (Simple, Asparagus Time.) March/April Nothing says spring is here like the snap of fresh, crisp asparagus. Experience it at the peak of the season in our soups, with your entrée or as an appetizer. We’ll celebrate this early spring bounty.
• Farmer’s Market Summer Months We’re planning a farmer’s market inside and out — the traditional market outside adjacent to our restaurant and all the bounty incorporated into our specials inside.
• Nut Market September/October From special drinks using nut liquors to 5 pound bags of freshly-picked nuts ready to take home, you’ll share in our Willamette Valley nut harvest.
• Oktoberfest September Mt. Angel’s own 44th Annual festival is not to be missed.
• Nouveau Wines November With so many local wineries, who couldn’t help but celebrate the first crush.
